On Monday, June 17, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., the City of Lynchburg’s Office of Economic Development & Tourism (OEDT) cordially invites the public to the ribbon cutting and grand reopening of the Lynchburg Visitor Center, 216 12th Street (at the corner of 12th and Church Streets). Come experience the newly renovated center, meet the staff, and enjoy a cool treat from Chill City Pops. The ribbon cutting and the grand reopening is cohosted by the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance and the Downtown Lynchburg Association.
On Tuesday, the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) awarded the City of Lynchburg two Excellence in Economic Development Bronze Awards for promotional projects: Lynchburg Innovation Week and “This is Lynchburg: Welcome Home” video. IEDC’s prestigious awards program recognizes the world’s best economic development marketing materials, programs and partnerships, honoring organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban and rural communities. Lynchburg was awarded in the population category ranging from 25,000 to 200,000.
Five Lynchburg start-ups that completed the City’s first CO.STARTERS program received Community Business Launch grants totaling $40,000 at an awards ceremony on Thursday. Businesses will start or expand their business operations in Lynchburg’s Enterprise Zone 2.
